Fishing
The Nine Mile River once provided power for a few small industries, but the dam now operates as a Fish Ladder in the spirit of the conservation & study of our abundant salmon and trout population.
Each spring and fall the Nine Mile Steelheaders organize a lift. This process of handling the fish provides much information about the populations, health and habits of the fish. Data collected includes scale samples, measurement, sex and general condition.

Sport Fishing is very popular in Port Albert and the scenery abounds.

Hiking
A variety of walks await you
the moment you step outside the doors of the Inn.
You can walk for miles uninterrupted along the shores of Lake Huron which is
sometimes calm and silent and at other times wild and furious with the waves
pounding on the shore.
It is a 5 minute walk to the sandy beach.
You can stroll through the forest along the paths that follow the river as it meanders through the valley.
You can spend countless hours walking the
country lanes
that lead in all directions from the Inn.
For committed hikers, there is a 30km
Maitland Trail, marked and groomed.
Much of the trail is old growth Carolinian forest; some trees are 300 years old.
Point Farms Provincial Park is popular for
cyclists,
roller bladers, cross-country skiing, and hikers.
The Park is approximately 10 minutes from our front door.
Golfing
In 5 minutes you can be
golfing at the 18 hole
Sunset Golf Club.
Professional Theatre
We are a scenic 20 minute drive from
the Blyth Festival Theatre,
which features the very best in CanadianTheatrical Arts.
